There’s something quietly powerful in the way a rose holds both vulnerability and strength within each petal. This painting reflects the beauty found in those contrasts, and how softness becomes its own kind of resilience.

What captivates me most is watching the petals gracefully unfurl from a tight bud to a full bloom, symbolising not only nature’s wonder but also the unfolding of our own growth and awakening.

These are the early stages of the new rose collection.
I always enjoy this part of the process, watching the work build from the first acrylic washes into mixed media and gradually finding its direction.

Time is spent selecting the colour palette and working out the balance before the oils begin. These are now ready for the next layer of oils.
